While bravely fighting a nasty flu by zombying my evening on the web, I stumbled on this website.
So far it only worked with the ny times. I've also tried The Independent (for the Robert Fisk archives) and a few local websites with no success. I guess it has better chances to work with major american newspapers.
There's also a firefox extension for it.

The other thing that happens is another very large board I visit someone almost always create a userid/password of the board name so anyone from their visiting any news site can kind of count on being able to login. We could start the GWJ tradition with the same kind of thing if people feel like it.
I''ve been using the Firefox extension for this for awhile now and it''s great. When you get to the login page of the offending site just right-click, select bugmenot, and it fills in the login info for you.

Lately the Bugmenot plugin for Firefox has been coming up empty for me. I''ve tried it on a few sites and have to go through several attempts to get a userID/password the site will take. Even then, I''ve been denied enough times where I just give up.
