Pacific Fighters Trailer

All I want for this is a little more accessibility for not-quite-as-good pilots like myself. A better training area maybe, but after that, i'm happy.

Looks impressive. I''ve always been interested in games like this, but am so freakishly bad I just can''t play them. I have this problem with hitting the ground. Hard. Never really understood it myself. I can manually dock with a rotating space station in a space based game, but can''t avoid hitting the freaking ground in a flight based game?!

I want it, and I want it now. I''ve been waiting for this one with baited breath, as 1942: Pacific Air War is still one of my all-time favorites...

I agee with Prederick that I hope you don''t have to go to ''school'' to enjoy this sim. And I agree with Veloxi...oh yes! PAW was great! (fave was Battlehawks...maybe the first Pacific flight sim).

Battlehawks was fantastic indeed. I sure do miss those old sims sometimes. Thankfully PAW still plays on DOSbox. What I really want is a new ""Aces"" game. THOSE were a blast.

I''d be very interested too if I could get past the learning curve for the IL-2 games. They seem nifty and all, but I could never figure out where I was going or how to find my waypoints or how not to suck, so I gave up ;(

IL2:FB + AEP, apparently. I''m pretty sure the P-51 and Ki-84 are from the expansion.
The good thing is, if it''s still true, that some new features of Pacific Fighters will be applied to your stock IL2 game.

If you want an nice introduction to Oleg and his work I would recommend that you pick up IL-2 Sturmovik. I think it can be had now for $20. If your even modestly interested in flight sims you will find this extremely enjoyable. And don''t forget to patch it to the latest version.

Pacific Fighters is an absolute must have. Then again, so are HL2 and the JO Expansion pack!

I also like Flight Sims but have questionable skills and little patience. I had read IL-2 was a pretty challenging game, I''m assuming this will be as well? Something a little more approachable (Jane''s USAF wasn''t bad, for example) would be a lot of fun. And I''ll introduce the obligatory desire for a Longbow follow-up.

Excellent flight sim. And soooo dynamic. I mean things were
happening everywhere. It was cool. (Longbow was pretty cool too).

Sure was. Though for a few good reasons, Longbow II trounces it and every other military helo game around. Excellent dynamic campaigns, realism out the ying-yang, 3 distinctly different choppers to fly -- so different that the campaigns were completely different depeing on your choice of bird -- exquisite multiplayer. Damn shame Andy Hollis doesn''t make sims anymore. He was a real master.

Man, there''s a name I haven''t heard of in a long while. I totally agree, he was really something. And very, very in touch with the gaming community. He''d be on internet forum''s discussing things. Pretty cool.

Actually, my golf-on-Tuesdays-only-friend, that is a misconception. The games have toggles for realism in a bunch of areas, so that it can be as tough or easy as you like.

The is true. One of the (many) beauties of IL-2, for example, is that it can be made into a glorified arcade game, if you so desire.

Hm, I suppose that is better than my other label, ""shanked-repeatedly-on-Thursday-friend"".

That aside, I did not realize it was that configurable for the difficulty. Maybe I''ll see if I can find a copy cheap. Its not worth me spending any large amount of money on as I know I''ll likely only play it a few times, given previous history.

Thanks for the tip.
