Sony Unveils PSTwo
Tuesday, September 21st, 2004 - 4:23am
Well, already rumoured for a while, but there ya go. Complete hardware redesign, volume reduction by 75% or something. Price seems to be the same as the normal PS2. The thing is going to launch in Europe on November 1st. Pics can be seen if you check out the links below the news story that says "Sony stellt PS2 in neuem Design vor" at Gamefront.

It still looks like an ugly 80''s portable radiator.
It looks nice, I wish the XBox would do a similar refresh but I doubt they could get it much smaller with the Hard Drive and various heat issues. I also agree on the PS2 design looking like a portable radiator, I''ve always thought they were ugly as sin.

wheres the HD go for FF?
Aint nothing new about the world order..it's been playing since the day they put George Washington on a quarter

External.
Unfortunately, if I slash my wrist with my lightsaber it cauterizes instantly. - PurEvil on emo Star Wars plots.
If it was $99, I would probably buy it, just for those games that are only for PS2.
But otherwise, $179 (that''s what the PS2 costs, right?) is just too much for a revamp of an older system with no enhanced features.

Wow... that''s itty bitty.
Yes, that''s all I can come up with.
Rock Band Name Generator!... too funny to merely be coincidence.
"Truly, this mishap has set back the swamp sciences several years." - H.P. Lovesauce, lamenting a tragedy.
The PS2 retails for $149 (here in the U.S. at least), generally without the modem and broadband adapter that''s going to be included in the PStwo. I''m probably going to pick one up eventually, since the significant PS2 hardware issues were what was holding me back from the current generation.
Everything can be debated, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's debatable.

If they would let me trade in my old ps2 for the new one... then i''ll get it. Otherwise there is no point in getting one.

Oh. It already has the broadband adapter built in? Hmm...

Still looks like something that a failed design school student created.... but at least its not the size of a house (like my xbox)... although I actually like the fact that the xbox is big...won''t get pulled off my shelf....so go figure.

The same design just minaturized? Surely Sony didn''t think it was so great they didn''t need the change it?
And at the same $149 price, not for me. Now $99 will get me to buy one and finally every person on the planet will own a PS2.
The integration of the network adaptor is nice, but I haven''t seen any official word on HDD support. I''m guessing since the HDD hasn''t been a commercial success that they might have dropped support for it.

Writing, gaming, and stuff.
And we''re going to be back to the joy of broken CD/DVD crowns as well it appears.
Who knows MS might do a redesigned XBox, think notebooks, you could proably get everything crammed into a pretty tight area. The one problem I can see is the, er, rocky relationship MS seemed to be having with NVidia (and them going with ATi for the XB2), and whether or not they would be able to have a redisned chip for a smaller version of the system. And of course price point would be an issue as well.

But, oranges are much cheaper!

My PS2 used to look like that before I got a regular cleaning lady - it would sit on the table in the living room, getting played all the time (but not dusted

So Sony has declared the PSTwo will not support the harddisk. What kind of idiotic decision is this? So now you have a version of the PS2 out that doesn''t support one of the console''s accessories and one of it''s games as well as enhanced features in several other games. I sincerely hope they re-think their strategy here.
