Yes. Get it. Best RPG ever? No.
Completely new and fresh gameplay elements? Yes.
Fable = or > KOTOR, IMO.
I ahve played for about 5 hours, I have kicked chickens, kicked a$$, been run out of a town, been called a ""chicken chaser,"" traded in my long bow for a cross bow, have aged from a boy to about a 27 year old, can now throw fireballs, have snuck into people''s houses while they slept....
Immersive experience.
I only got to play it for about 2 hours last night before my brain pooped out on me, but so far it seems well worth the price.

I think it is a good game (8/10), I''m about seven hours into the game. I think if you have any questions you should rent it first. I don''t think it is the goods we were sold on and many of the ""innovations"" were overblown. It is a good game, nothing more and nothing less.
For instance, there are 108 beads in a Catholic rosary and there are 108 stitches in a baseball. When I learned that, I gave Jesus a chance. ~Ron Shelton, Bull Durham, 1988
I agree with this.. its a solid game..
If you enjoy RPG''s with a actiony feel then this is right up your alley..
Very good graphics.. nicely realized environments..
I wonder if they scrapped a whole lot at some point because this shouldnt have taken that long to put out.
Aint nothing new about the world order..it's been playing since the day they put George Washington on a quarter

By all accounts yes.....otherwise we wouldn''t have rcvd the game until the very end of the XB life cycle.
It obvious that MS pushed them to get it out!!
I am mixed on the overblown statement...its exactly what I expected it to be so far, a very good action RPG with some original ideas and a good deal left on the chopping block.
For month now there have been many articles about what was left on the cutting room floor. Fable is a great starter for the world, and I imagine that Fable 2 on Xb 2 will be closer to stellar.
Hype has killed a large amount of games in the past...they get crushed under there own bloated weight sometimes. Fable deserves sales and a part 2 as much as say ..Celda does.

Celda. Oh, clever.

Not sure how to take that....but its easier to call it Celda, then just Zelda or Zelda: OOT......anyhow to those who are bound to be offended...none meant.

Is it really easier to say Celda than Zelda?

Yes, because Celda (when the reader takes a second to think about) denotes the version I am speaking about. While simply saying Zelda means any Zelda game...at least possibly.

Dragging the thread back on to topic...
I just finished a four hour session of playing and so far so good. I''m not in far enough to get a good feel for the scope of the world or the variety of the quests but I''m enjoying it so far. Lots of personality. Nice to have a single player game to play!

Thanks for the good feedback, GWJer''s. I''m heading to work to cover the end of a shift for somebody, and I''ll acquire my reserved copy of Fable.

I heard it wasn''t a very long game. It may be longer if you do everything, but I would rent it first if it were me. $50 isn''t pocket change, at least not to me.
Also, KOTOR > Fable

I''m okay with a relatively short game, I don''t have the time to invest into a game like KOTOR for the most part. I''ve played only about an hour and I have nothing to add to what''s been said thus far, other than it looks great on my DLP projector.
I''m going out of town tomorrow so I''ll have to pick it up again on the weekend.
no particular interest, no particular talent
Well, Fable has sunk its claws in. It''s almost 3AM and I played 4:30PM - 8:00PM and then 9:30PM to now. Yikes!

Up until 1am playing, after getting back to it around 10pm. The game is extremely fun. I''m starting to turn into a spellcasting warrior, more emphasis on the warrior part. I''ve got some nifty weapons, a flaming longsword, and a lightning imbued axe, but haven''t gotten to putting together some decent armor yet. And I did just get a nasty bruise on my face after fighting a troll, very nifty.
After all of that, I spent some time with the locals and have even purcahsed a house. I can see playing through this again just to be evil, or try out being a straight up wizard, or a thief, or extremely good. Lots of fun.

BTW, I had problems getting the my TV to recognize the HD signal from the game (if that makes any sense). If anyone else has this problem, let me know and I can give you the fix (you won''t like it).

I like the quests once you get them....and most of them so far are pretty decent... the fight with the Earth Troll was very cool..
I just hate how the quests are handed out... the quest card? seems so goofy..
Also I would love to see what some perhaps more RPG experienced dev''s could do with this engine..
It just screams for a huge open-ended world to explore..
Game looks fantastic on my 61"" DLP set..

Arrrggghh you people, I had no intention of buying Fable, none, zip, zero, nada....
Now it sounds fun...my palms are itchy...I''m starting to rationalize buying another game when I have 50 on the shelf half played...
I think I need an intervention.

I was up until some obscene hour last night playing. Being a creature that needs little sleep, I''m already up again. After some breakfast and perusal of the internet, I''m going right back to Fable.

I was thinking about why I''m enjoying Fable and I think one of the reasons is that I went in with fairly realistic expectations and even more importantly, it plays a little like Gothic2-lite. Very similar feel to me although plenty of gameplay mechanics are different.
